Hello.

I am interested in viewing videos that I have on my Dell Dimension 3000 computer(particularly .rmvb and .avi files via RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, and WinAmp) on my television - a Toshiba Widescreen HDTV with S-Video capabilities. I upgraded the video card in my Dell to a NVidia GeForce 5500 OC graphics card. I was planning on purchasing the "Pro S-Video to 3 RCA, 6 ft." cable from www.svideo.com. Would I be able to play movies on my computer and view them on my television if I was to use this cable? If so, what will the video quality be like? Are there better alternatives out there?

Any suggestions and feedback are greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

What model is your television? Yes, you can use s-video on your tele and the quality will be around 800x600 (or widescreen equivalent). Depending on the inputs on the tv, you maybe be able to use analog RGB or perhaps even DVI/HDMI to achieve a better/clearer resolution.

When evolution selects its agents, it does so at a cost, makes demands in exchange for singularity, and you may be asked to do something against your very nature. This force, evolution, is not sentimental. Like the Earth itself, it knows only the hard facts of life's struggle with death. All you can do is hope and trust that when you have served its needs faithfully, there may still remain some glimmer of the life you once knew.

You would be better off with a S-Video to S-Video lead in this instance if your TV supports it... Which anything made within a decade should. :) As far as resolution goes, I have mine set to 1024 x 768 on a CTV.

Yes, anything your PC can play will now run through your TV. Your TV will act as a primary monitor.

Always! I will attempt to compile a list of order from best to worst...

HDMI/DVI (basically any digital connection is the best choice!)--->Component--->S-Video--->RCA/Standard AV leads (Yellow)--->RF connection (yuk!! lol)
