Yeah, firstly, sorry for having to post this. I've taken a look around and seen alot of "I'm so tired of people asking about burning with DivX...". Unfortunately, I'm very new to the program, and, well the entire idea, really. I tried to get a feel for it through forums but it's another language to me, so I made a thread.

I bought DivX. It looked like a useful program to have, it sounded great, and I really liked the website (I got a few good laughs reading most of their pages). Plus, it wasn't very expensive, and it looked easy enough to learn...

Anyway, I burned a video to disk using the DivX player (dragged the video file onto the disc on the right side of the player and hit burn). It burned quickly, and played fine in my DivX player (to be expected) but my DVD player just said "Cannot Play Disc". Now, I know from reading a couple threads here that you need the DVD players that are "Ultra Certified" or something to have DivX menus, but does this apply to simply reading the discs, also?

The impression I got was that if your DVD player wasn't "Ultra Certified" (if that's the right term) it would play the movie, but not let you use your special menu deal. When I put my disc into the player, it just said "Cannot Play Disc" immediately.

Question: is it my burning method? A codec problem? Possibly my DVD player?

I don't mean to be picky, but please try to keep it simple if possible. Like I said, I don't really know what I'm doing, and I don't have too much understanding of how this all works, but I am trying to learn.

Thanks in advance, and sorry again to those who this post irritates. >.<
