Saved movie files on c: seemto get bigger when converted by PSP 9

I have been copying movies onto my hard drive c: using Shrink then converting them for my PSP using psp 9. What I don't understand is why a file ,say 4300 mb, is enlarged to about 7000mb after converting. I noticed this first while it was converting and the file size grew bigger than the saved one when it was only about 60% done. When I sent it to the memory stick in the PSP it stored at about 7000mb. Shouldn't the saved file on C: be the same size as the converted file. Any advice appreciated Thanks Jim

Sorry I think I mean't 430 mb and 700mb for the above question! Jim

nope they won't be the same size.

different codecs used for the movies changes the size, you can mess w/ settings in pspvideo9 to try to make them smaller, like video/audio bitrates.....

i usually use the avc codec with 128kbit/sec audio and 750kbit/sec video. Usually gets 45min video into about 250mb...and still looks very good.
