No idea where I've gone wrong, but my firmware's now V1.0 and I can't update, even with an original UDM......
I just bought a PSP and tried to downgrade the firmware from V2.0 to V1.5 - Followed all the steps (MPH Downgrader and EBoot V1.5) and everything looked to be working until I ran the updater and got an error message saying that it couldn't update my system.
Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

I gave it 30 seconds or so, turned off the power and switched it back on. I then went to the game menu and and ran the updater. It started to load and then gave me an error message similar to the below and the PSP has been firmware 1.0 ever since : (
If I try and allow a UMD to update the firmware I get this message when it attempts to start:
'The system cannot be update. The update program is not applicable for this system (80000025)'

Hey, I 've been doing a bit more research on this one and is there any chance that the 2nd hand PSP I've bought was a V1.00 that's reverted back to the original firmware?
I'm hoping so, but why can't the unit upgrade when I put an original UDM in and do I still want to upgrade to V1.5?
Sorry, but I can't find any threads from anyone with a similar problem...Help.

the psp you have isnt actually 1.0. the 2.0 downgrader changes the version to 1.0 which allows u to run the 1.5 eboot. run the 1.5 eboot to have an actual 1.5 psp. heres the link

Hey, thanks for the info.
I followed the instructions with the MPH downgarder originally but I've given it another try but still no success.
I downloaded Eboot v1.5, installed it in an UPDATE subfolder in the GAME folder and when I try and run it I still get the error message:
'The system could not be updated. The update program is not applicable for this system. (80000025).'
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Everything I've read seems to suggest that what I'm doing is fine and EBoot 1.5 should work but I just keep hitting the same wall. I'll try updating to 2.6 as suggested (thanks) and try downgrading again. Appreciate the help.

Should have asked before: If I upgrade to 2.6 will I still be able to downgrade to 1.5? What's the best method for doing this as the only downgrader I can see is for 2.0 to 1.5?
Has anyone else ever had the same problem trying to downgrade? Can't see where I'm going wrong (if I am).
Thanks for all the help!

It just keeps telling me:
'the system can not be updated. The update data is not applicable for this system'
When I try and update the firmware with v2.6 or 2.71
I must be doing something really obvious wrong but I can't see what. I've read tons of tutorials now and they all have the same basic instructions: Copy Eboot file to UPDATE folder, run from mem stick - then I get error.

Yep, the UPDATE folder is firmly planted within the GAME folder. I'm hoping it's something in the method that I'm running the firmware update. I've read different accounts of when to plug in the AC adaptor during the down/upgrade and how long to leave the unit before powering off etc.
I was really, really hoping that someone might have had similar difficulties but I'm losing hope. Do really appreciate the help tough.
