Ok I've read the blank media quality guide and have a question.

I know Pioneer, Mitsubishi, Sony.. etc make the 1st class medias so does that mean any blank DVD made by those company are 1st class medias? And their ID definently on that list?(unless new ID of course)

And also, the highr the class, the better for your ps2 right? Because the guide rates on failure rate, not ps2 damage rate which is what I care about most.

I read DVDs using azo (metal) dyes are better for ps2, is there any way to tell what kind of dye they use? Maybe on the DVD box or a program that reads it?

1st class media is good for burning sucees which had not had a problem. As for you ps2 laser reading 1st class media or damaging your laser the better your media the less you will have problems with your laser. I have read several pple comments about the media they have used(tokijin) and he has had his ps2 for about 4-5 runing backups and still has his stock laser which ofcorse has used 1st class media and has had much success with. Another thing you might want to keep in mind is using a hdd(fat ps2) with hd loader or hd advance and that way you boot your game for hdd which will put less strain on your laser, if your worried about the laser burning out.
