Hello,

I've had the unit for a little more than two years now.

In a few instances, a program will have recorded perfectly and playback perfectly for weeks and suddenly there is weird skipping during playback. The picture and time will freeze at, say, the 0:05 mark for a few seconds, and then skip to the 0:08 mark and resume play again.

Tonight a major problem occured. The machine wouldn't power on via the machine itself or using the remote control. I unplugged it, plugged it back in, and was able to turn it on, but it was reacting to various commands very slowly and eventually froze completely. This continued to happen and I had to reset the machine about three or four times.

Should the firmware upgrade fix either of these problems or is the machine just on its way out?
