Hi!
I've just had my ps2 modded and now I'm able to play PS2 backup games on it (to be honest, I've only tried one ps2 game backup, but it works fine).
I've also tried to play a psx backup, but I had problems with it: the ps2 says i should insert an original disc (u know...).
I have 2 questions:
1. Is it (theoretically) possible that i can run psx backups on a modded ps2 (without any other tools)?
2. Is there some way I can burn psx backup files (eg iso, mdf) onto a DVD? (cause the ps2 doesnt seem to like cd-s...)
I used a Verbatim disc with the PS2 game backup (works fine), and i used a phillips cd with the psx backup. Could that be the problem?
Thx 4 your help
Unfortunetaly i dont know what modchip i have :D
Isnt there a way to figure it out? :D I mean if it supports psx backups, i put a psx backup into my ps2, it should play it without any problems, right? And if it doesnt play, could the problem be that i use the wrong type of cd or i burn it too fast, etc ?
There's been posts before on how to find out what chip you have, best to use forum search to find them.
Yes, if your chip supports direct boot of psx games, then they should just boot up like any other original or backup PS2 game.
And there's no such thing as a 'wrong type' of CD-R, any CD-R will work for psx games & CD based PS2 games.
