wireless routers work as access points and send out signals, not receive them. you need a wireless adaptor to receive a wifi signal. the psp has wifi built into it so all u need is a wireless router. dont go with wifi max theyre not worth the money for all the problems people have with them.

no the wifi max is an access point for the psp a wireless adaptor picks up signals, not sends them out. A good router to go with would be the linksys wrt54g. there is also hacked firmwares for them that extend signal range by about 300%.

oh ya its pretty awesome what u can do with the linksys router. they run embedded linux and it wasnt long before hackers found a way to run custom firmwares on it.

it has to be a certain version of the linksys wrt54g in order for it to work i think anything past v.4 doesnt work. But mine is v.6 (cant use custom firmware) but it still sends out a very strong signal. I live in a two story house with the router upstairs in my room and I can play in the farthest room downstairs and not get disconnected. check out
http://www.sveasoft.com for some of the hacked firmware or google "hacked linksys firmware" to see a couple more. there is a few different versions.

i just said that about the versions. but ya u can brick one if u dont do it right. but there is a way "unbrick" a router unlike the psp. also like i said anything past v.4 cant use the hacked firmware. v5 and v6 both have the smaller amount of memory and also stopped using the linux based firmware.
