Using high quality media is many times more important than the software your using. But as noob33 said, many people, including myself, use DVD Decrypter (its also free). As long as your program can create an image on your hd, then burn it, it should be fine.

V9 PS2, flip top, SMD, DVDLoader
Pioneer 107, ritek g05
DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Nero

Because some programs tend to work when the others dont and some programs tend to work better with certain media than others.

I just use Taiyo Yuden DVD's and Alcohol 120% I rip and burn with Alcohol. Also checking the booktype as dvd-rom option in alcohol really helps too.

Which you only need to do if you use DVD+R, DVD-R don't need booktyped, and most (if not all) PS2's will read -Rs, but some versions of PS2 dont like +R
