I had a v2.01 so I upgraded to 2.71 then downgraded to v1.5. Ever since then, I get an error "The disc can't be read." I even tried to upgrade it back to v2.0 and I still get the message. What do I do?

If everything else works fine except reading the UMD disc what could it be? Dirty UMDs? Dirty laser? or could it be bricked?

I read about this. Dark_AleX posted it himself:
He said just do a hard reset and it will work. This is the ONLY problem you will ever have w/ downgrading tho.
Hope this helps. (It should)

Don't worry about it. LOL!!! Just do it and it will work. Hold the power button (on button) up for 10 seconds or so as iPirate said and it will turn off. When you turn it on again, you will see the "Sony Computer Entertainment" logo again. Then load teh UMD and you should be all good.

Or just take the battery out and leave it out for a minute or so,
after you put the battery back in the umd drive will then work again
