The P2P software host eDonkey2000.com was shut down today. The software now displays a popup that says "The eDonkey2000 Network is no longer available. See edonkey.com for details."

When you visit edonkey.com or edonkey2000.com it says,

"The eDonkey2000 Network is no longer available.

If you steal music or movies, you are breaking the law.

Courts around the world -- including the United States Supreme Court --
have ruled that businesses and individuals can be prosecuted for illegal
downloading.

You are not anonymous when you illegally download copyrighted material.

Your IP address is (edited) and has been logged.

Respect the music, download legally.

I read though in a post by AlphaOmega at http://www.betanews.com/article/P2P_...ses/1127953242 dated today, that the software does still work, but given the attention I am not going to try to find out.

The site was shut down, the network was not.

There are about 57 million edonkey clients, but I wouldn't recommend any of them.
