Problems burning digital home movies to cdr to read on a VDC DVD player

Could someone help me as to how I can take home movies from my digital camcorder and eventually play them off a VCD on my DVD player. I have managed to take the movies and covert those into mpegs in MGI Videowave III software, but when I burn them to a CDR, the DVD player will not even recognize the disc. The DVD player is a Sony which plays both DVD and CD video. Is it possible to just do it all in windows XP? I have spent hours trying to figure it out. If someone could help me? I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

First you transfer the video to your HDD, then you encode the material into VCD format using TMPGEnc, then (if required) you cut the final VCD/MPEG-1 files into 740MB (or less, obviously) chunks and finally you burn the video files into VCD format using Nero.

All tools listed above can be found from our software section and various instructions on how to use TMPGEnc and Nero can be found from our article section.

Some Sony DVD players like the NS300 don´t recognize CDR, they only recognize CDRW burn your movie in that media.
Some CDR like Pengo works well in this DVD player.
