I was wondering, is there any way to tell your encoder to allocate less bits to the ending credits?

I ask, because I am doing some experimental encoding to determine what settings do what and for this, I use 1 pass VBR and compare. Then when I find the best, I use 2-pass VBR.

When I later look at the end result of the 2-pass VBR, I find that the quality is much worse than the 1-pass. The only thing I can put the blame on is that I think the ending credits are getting most of the bits.

Is there any way to make the movie encode with less bits to the end credits? I am thinkning that if I cut the credits and encode those separately then put them back in the movie, I will get playback problems. Before I try this, I would rather see if I can get the problem fixed with settings on the encoder.

I have mainconcept mpeg encoder as well as TMPGEnc plus 2.5. I do not want to experiment and compare qualities with TMPGEnc because it is about 4-5 times slower than mainconcept.

BTW, I am trying to encode to very low bitrates like anywhere from 2500 to 3300kbps.

Ok, I see how to do it in TMPGEnc. You would use the Force GOP setting and come up with the GOP structure yourself. Then you can enter new GOPs and set the bitrate for the GOP.

I still haven't found anything in Mainconcept.
