I was wondering, if I have a modded ps2 that doesnt support psx backups, is there a way to make them work?
I've read in previous topics that there are some possibilities that need some discs swapped (like swap magic with PS2) like breaker pro or whatever (I may be wrong cause i havent used this before).
So if I have a modded PS2 can I use backup copies of such discs (eg breaker pro? Will they work?

what mod do you have? even the crapiest of mods have some way of booting ps1 backups (unless it's something really old like a neo2.2? but those still required swapping). technically it should work

Well to be honest I dont know what mod i have :D
But i had my PS2 modded 2-3 weeks ago, so i suppose it isnt an old one...
The reason why im asking this is that i made a backup copy of one of my PS1 games with CloneCD and I burnt it at 1x speed onto a verbatim cd-r, and I tried to play with it but it didnt work...
I have another PS1 backup game, its on a Phillips cd-r, it was burnt slow as well, but didnt work either...
So what do u think: should I try making a few more PS1 backups with other programs like Alcohol or Nero, or should I use another brand?
Or is there a special way to boot up PS1 backup games on a PS2 with a modchip (should I push some buttons on the controller or something like this)? Or what am I doing wrong? (i wouldnt like to waste more dc-rs :D)

Usually there is. How could you get it modded a few weeks ago and not know what chip was put in it?
V9 PS2, flip top, SMD, DVDLoader
Pioneer 107, ritek g05
DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Nero

Well I didnt want to order a modchip from the internet so i decided to find a shop in my town where they can mod PS2-s. After weeks of searching i found one and i was happy :D
The guy said it would be ready in a few days cause they sent it into the capital of the country (there are some places here where they deal with modding). So the modding itself didnt take place in the town where I live. And so it was not the chip that I ordered but the modding itself.
After i took it home i tried a PS2 backup game and it worked. I didnt care about the type of the modchip installed in it.
Yes i know it was a mistake but am i still able to find out the type of the modchip? Or could you give me a link where I can read about the special booting ways?
And one more question: does every chip have a different type of booting method for PS1 backups?

Try this.
1) with the ps1 backup inserted in the disc tray put the ps2 in standby mode (hold the reset button until it goes red).
2) press and hold the reset button to start the booting
3) let go of the reset button when the blue eject light comes on
that's the ps1 backup booting procedure for a few mods hope it helps.
The only sure way of knowing what mod you have is to open up the ps2 and compare the mod you have with pics of mods on the net.(unless the guy at the shop you took it to can find out from the other guys that modded it what kind of mod they put in it)

I've tried this booting method out but it doesnt seem to work for me... But thanx for your help anyway.
And the problem is that i dont know if the backup copy could work or not... (if i had a PS1 backup that works for someone else it was easier to find out...)
So are there any other booting methods? Or is there any other way to make a PS1 backup work?
And if I find out the type of my modchip how do I know what booting method it uses?

if you find out the type of modchip then you could search the net for booting procedures and you'd know how to boot up in ps1 mode for that particular modchip.
