A couple of years ago I bought a Ilo DVDR04, no complaints.Did the firmware update for regions and other things. It's all on the net, plus Ilo's own website. But the first day I had it home I took the burner/recorder out of the Ilo unit and swapped it with my PC burner. Both worked fine. My point is,if the firmware/hardware in your stand alone has'nt crapped out, just go to the cheapest supplier and just replace the burner. It installs just like a PC.
