HP Lightscribe not recognized

I have an HP (a1030n). I have been making labels with my lightscribe and no problems...Then...I chose to print a paper label instead of making a lightscribe label and the next time I went to make a label I get the message that there is no lightsribe installed. And when I try to update the software I get a message that says my system doens't meet the requirements (which I'm assuming means that the lightscribe is not being recognized here either).
After over 8 hours of dealing with HP through their online chat and phone service, nothing is solved. The techs all told me that installing the update from the HP site would solve the problem. It did not. They told me I would need a new Lightscribe Drive...they sent one, I sent mine back, the new one is no different than the first one. Then they said I would have to do a complete system restore because it was a problem with that went DEEP into the computer...(very tech. language). They were WRONG once again. HP is useless. Their tech support just gives enough information to get you offline and make you someone else's problem when you call back saying their advice didn't work.
When I try to burn the image, the disc ejects and I get a message saying there is no lightscribe installed. I can burn CD's and DVD's with it and I can play them too...but the lightscribe feature is being ignored.
I need help. this is so very frustrating.
