Duo 3 chip-psx problem

I just got a modded slim line ps2 with a duo 3 modchip. A friend gave me a psx backup of fist of the north star psx game. When I put the game in it goes to the browser menu (with the memory cards) and shows a ps1 disk. When I push x to load the ps1 game the screen goes black and then goes back to the browser. Whats going on? and is their any way I can play it...Thanks in advance for any reply

search on the net for the duo3's boot up procedure I believe it has a special boot method for ps1 backups.
