i bought half life 2: episode 1(Preowned) from my local game store about a week or two ago. i didnt bother with it as i also bought F.E.A.R, Quake 4 & Guild Wars Factions. However, i tried to play it the other day & when i had downloaded & installed steam, i entered the serial number & it said the serial was already in use. someone said i should try & find a no-steam patch. ive looked everywhere & can only find one for half life 2, not episode 1. does anyone know if such a patch exists? i would appreciate some help here as it seems im stuck with a game i cant play. thanks

You posted this here 6 days agoand recieving help.

And by the way, a patch is not the only way to go. You can use an offline registration registry key. You'll have to search these things yourself. Rules...ya know?

Go to the Half Life / Steam web site. There is a way to have the Steam account transferred to you when you buy a used copy.

It most likely involves a FEE that you pay to them. It wipes out the benefit of buying a used copy!

From what I have heard, the game is good - but VERY short. Like 2-3 hours of game play. I have chosen to stay away from Steam because of this AND because they did not see fit to answer my questions when I sent them an email throught their web site support contact.

ok thanks guys. i know i posted this before, but after almost a week without any luck, i thought id try again. niobis, do you know where i could find an offline registration registry key? as ive tried all the usual suspects but still cant see anything. i think im ready to give up if i dont find something soon & stick the game i the bin.. i got a half life 2 steamless fix. but it doesn't work. if anyone knows where i can get an offline registration registry key or patch, please post a link to it, or tell me where to roughly look. niobis, im not being funny but, the point to afterdawn is to help your fellow forum users, if you know of anything that'll help, please let me know.. any help is appreciated, thanks guys

There's a fine line between helping and breaking rules. No one can post links for what you are asking. Look in first post you made about this, a link was removed when it was posted.
