I'd like to convert some of my AVI, with ogg and mkv codecs, to DivX or XviD so they can be compatible with my DVD player. I've been using RiverPast video cleaner for the conversion but it takes too long to convert and the quality of my output AVI is not as good as the original.
Is there a program that can do the job quickly and without losing any of the video quality?
One last question: Is there DivX player (stand alone player) that will support ogg and Mkv

ogg and mkv aren't codecs. They are containers, as is AVI so you can't have an AVI with ogg or mkv. Chances are when you say ogg you mean ogm, so your ogm and mkv files may already be using DivX or XviD. If you really mean ogg, then the video will be theora.
I am not aware of any players that support mkv or ogg (in terms of video, there are players that support ogg vorbis audio). There are some I believe that do support ogm.
Basically what you really want is to convert mkv/ogm to AVI. If the video is compatible, then you can remux, so no quality loss. The audio you would need to re-encode. When re-encoding with a lossy codec (XviD, DivX, mp3, AC3, etc. are all lossy) there is always quality loss.
mkv can be tricky since it supports VFR and AVI doesn't.
