Garbage. You can buy Taiyo-Yudens for around the same price shipped. Also, check the threads on media sales for Verbatim or Made-in-Japan media. Stick with that, don't mess around with Ritek or non-TY or non-Verbatim media.
-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

i usually use Verbs. i just thought i would ask. looked at some of the other threads, but could never really get a good answer. i do not buy my DVD's online. i like to go to the store and buy them. gives me a good reason to go to best buy, microcenter, office depot.

SMS has TYG01 for $24-$25 per 100, though no free shipping on the 4x stuff.

Been using ritek for 6 months now, still can't tell the difference versus TY. I would say TY is great, but from what I've seen the Ritek I've been using is just as good. I backed up the same movie (EuroTrip) at same speed (4x) on same burner (NEC ND3550A) on a TY 16x and on a Ritek 16x, put them both into the PS2, Polaroid DVP-1000, and xbox 360. I watched several chapters of the movie. I could tell Absolutely no difference whatsoever. I did the same with The movie fear and loathing in las vegas except @ 16x on my Plextor PX-716A, and again, no skips, artifacts, distortion, nothing of the sort on either media. I'd have to say the Ritek performed equally with the TY as far as I could tell. So I buy Ritek now. It saves a good deal of money at the end of the year.

I'm getting a bit leary of Ritek DVD media lately. The 2x & 4x media is very good. Not one I've burned has started to fail yet. The 8x G05 is a different story. 6 to 8 months after burning & they all are starting to go bad both data & movie discs. About 200 data discs have to be copied to the hard drive then burned on TY media, Sonetimes part of the disc is bad & I lose a few files but there is nothing I can do about that.
The 16x Ridata I bought seems to test as well as some 8 month to year old 8X MIT & MIJ Sony's. I'm burning the sane data to TY though in case the Ridata has troubles down the road somewhere. Did that with 25 discs. The other 175 have sat there unburned as I much prefer TY's. Haven't decided if I'll burn the remaining Ridata discs or take the unopened 100 pack to Microcenter then toss the 75 others in the trash. Might take one pack back then save the other one for the already burned discs tests sometime in the future. Either way I've stopped buying Ritek for the time being. TY from now on!!
