I have the ability to d/l at home with my router and ports all forwarded nicely. I am now away at a motel that has wireless. I have the Netgear adap card and of course am online. Have gone into dos and found all my new ip/gateway/dns settings and have gone into my wireless connection properties and copied them. Have then gone into firewall and opened the ports. There is no router of course to forward the ports. Still naterrors/firewalled. Any suggestions?

that doesn't mean that the ports are truely open. Your still behind a network device that has ports closed for security. What you need to do is find out who's in charge of the network at the hotel and tell them that you need port xxxx open for an online school course. and viola your ready to roll.
