English is my second language, I usually need either subtitle or closed caption when watch movie.some dvd has subtile in English, but some DVD only show it as closed caption (invisible ).however I found that after compress DVD from dvd shrink, only subtile remain, and closed caption is not working anymore. any way i can fix that?

This may just be a guess, but here goes.......
I know the closed captions are located as part of the video, encoded in lined below what is normally visable on your TV screen. I've personally never tried, but I could see how it might remove that extra bit of "wasted" video to reduce the size.

I'm pretty sure I've seen the closed captions on discs I've backed up by using DVD Decrypter and DVD2One. You might want to try that.

Certain movies are bad for closed caption subs

Films like : Die Another Day & The Bourne Identity

In DVD2One select all subs [just to make sure]
