AVI to DVD nasty blurred and Jeggy edges

This is doin me heed in.

Here goes:
My friend has a camcorder that takes the small DVDs.
Disk 1 would not read on my PC so it was passed to someone to put onto disk via there standalone TV DVD recorder. I used DVD Decryptor to convert it to AVI. This disk is fine.

Disk 2 and 3 are the mini DVD disks. I used DVD decryptor to convert them to AVI.

I then made the movie and saved it as an AVI PAL widescreen.
The playback of the AVI file is perfect on the PC.
Used DVD santa to write it to DVD and this is where it goes wrong.
All the clips from Disk 1 appear ok but clips from Disk 2/3 have jagged lines and blurs really bad.
So I tryed it in non widescreen with the same results.

Any ideas, it's driving me nuts!!!
