Will an Xbox (modded of course) play back-ups on Both types of DVD media (+ and -)or does it have to be on or the other?

Depends completely on your DVD-ROM. All you can really do is try it and see what happens.

all play DVD-R but only the early models can play both.
how true that is i have no idea but my launch xbox plays both and my 1.6 doesnt play DVD+R

The Samsung and Philips drive are more compatible with both types of media...cd-r's even if they are burned very slow...but my 1.1 w/Thomson drive plays both +/-R's too. This will tell you which drive you have in your Xbox http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?s...showtopic=17216
