Help me, please...

I had a lot of problems with this game - it was freezing at one place in the 2nd act and none of the solutions to this problem, such as disc change, disc ejection solution, reverting to old save, etc. never worked... So, I've bought another version of this game (multilanguage version) in hopes, that it will solve the problem, but it seems, that the old version's save (English PAL version) is not compatible with this one - the game doesn't detect the save, although it exists on memory card :(

So, please tell me, is it possible to convert the old save or alter it, so the game would be able to find it - the problem is probably caused only by the differences in the game identification codes, so there should be a way to modify the old save...
