Hi Experts,
WHEN making a BackUp, do our DVD/CD Drives record/report which Drive was used, or which software was used in our HDD or our DVDs/CDs?
(Can they know if I created the backup or John Doe did it)?
HOW can I bypass all the mentioned above?
WHERE can I find the Nero log (V. 6), which shows which CDs I have burned for backups?
WHICH are the best five or ten media brands for DVDs & CDs to make backups (from best to worst)?
WHAT are the best BackUp/Copy Software in order?
Can you really fit a DVD9 into a CD?
HOW can I copy files to a DVD9/DVDRW9 media in DOS environment?
Thanks!!!

1. No. There is no way to back trace what you've burned.
2. I don't know of any "list" by Nero other than the log file that's in the Nero directory itself under Program Files.
3. As far as media brands go, remember this: only use media that's Made in Japan, with the sole exception of Verbatim, which is also good stuff.
4. Best software, based on my findings on this site (I do not do backups myself) is AnyDVD+CloneDVD2, and this is also the easiest all-around package, but it requires payment via credit card. DVDFab Decrypter (free) is a good ripper, but use DVDShrink to shrink whatever you rip. Ripit4me is also reported to be able to tackle any protections, but you still need DVDShrink to get DVD-9s onto DVD-5s.
5. Fit a DVD-9 onto a CD? Uh, no, it's take about 12 CDs. If you mean a DVD-5, that's what DVDShrink or CloneDVD2 is for. BTW, if you have to do a lot of compression, you might want to look into DVD-Rebuilder and a separate encoder like CCE.
6. Even though I'm a DOS freak I don't know of any way to do this in DOS. But if your concern by using DOS is that you hope to gain "privacy protection" you don't have to worry much, especially if you turn off Windows Update and use Firefox + Windizupdate.com (Microsoft's update DOES inventory what's installed on your comp). Alternative, run on a machine that isn't connected to the net.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.
