hi, neworking in Mandrake (now known as Mandriva) is easy as pie (i've been using most versions since 8.1). The easy way (easy for you i mean) is to run 'mcc' then go thru the Networking wizard. if that doesn't work we can do the manual file editing method.

as to remote access of your Linux box, there are various ways to achieve this (typical thing in Linux); there's 'vnc' for one. In the office i tend to use a non-free product to access my Linux box and any Unix machines i administer - Hummigbird Exceed; but lately that's out of laziness, i did get vnc working for a while but broke it and couldn't get it to work again so i'm back to using Exceed to access my Mandriva machine.

just for info, for accessing the Windows box from the Linux box, there's a program that behaves the same as Window XP's Remote Desktop; e.g. whenever i work at our other site i have no internet access, so i have to access my work desktop (XP) remotely from my Mandriva laptop via it's Remote Desktop program and access any webpages that way, works great

Sorry, but im like..NEW to linux and mandrake for that matter, when you say run do you mean in konsoul or w.e i need like a step by step hold my hand kinda thing lol, i mean i could do that and all, but as for remote accses, i need to look into my linux box from my windows box, as is in the diagram---

So that the linux is sending me information so i can use remote accses to controll it from my computer.

-Thanks-

'mcc' is Mandrake Control Centre.

some info here - http://www.comptechdoc.org/os/linux/manual2/mandrakecontrol.html
and here's some info on configuring the network -
http://www.comptechdoc.org/os/linux/manual2/networking.html

see if that starts to help and we can go from there...
