Hi!

I recently got a DVD which I'd like to watch on my PC. Unfortunately, the DVD drive behaves as though I never inserted the DVD, it doesn't show any reactions at all. Windows XP shows the icon of an empty drive--obviously it can't read the data from that DVD.

Has anybody got an idea how I might be able to play that DVD on my computer?

Not sure if this would work but try hitting the shift key as soon as you insert the DVD into the drive. Wait about 10 seconds to release the shift key. This will bypass the autorun and autoplay feature in Windows XP. Then go to the drive that the DVD is inserted, then right click and choose open. This should open the DVD. If that worked, try playing the movie on the computer.
