Hi, having damaged my P4 2.53ghz 512/533 478 pin I would like to upgrade. I am though having difficulty finding what upgrades my motherboard will be compatable with na dother forums are just getting me more confused.

My motherboard is http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/m...tail.php?UID=45

I have SiS 645DX chipset if it helps also.

I would like to know which of the following i should go for...

Firstly, a processor very similar to the one i had http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Intel-P4-2-53-512-...1QQcmdZViewItem

Secondly, slightly better specs
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Intel-P4-2-8-512-5...3QQcmdZViewItem

Thirdly, better specs, but I'm unsure whether my motherbaord will support it
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Intel-P4-3-4-GHz-S...1QQcmdZViewItem

If anyone can suggest a better model which will definitely work I'd be delighted.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Matt

"Supports four memory banks using two 184pin unbuffered DDR DIMM. "

is it me or are there only 2 slots of ram?

Price isn't really an option, I just want to know what is the best cpu I can buy without having to update the motherboard or any other components.

Hi elokito, although it is the motherboards main website, I too thought there were some mistakes within the description of my motherboard. It also claims that it should only support up to 2.8GHz/400/512 yet i have been using a 2.53GHz/533/512 since I bought my PC 4 years ago

yea, that page is stupid, but here goes my thingy :)

go for the best one that your mobo supports that being the 2.8 GHZ one

(note, if money is not an option, then why are you stuck with an old socket mobo. I recomend getting a better mobo with an intel core 2 duo or something?)
