Rather than answer your question, i will tell you to read some of the previously posted threads in this forum, as this question has been asked and answered about 12 times now, and it would be redundant to answer this again.

Try Mepis or KNOPPIX if you want a good Debian based distro, I think there is a Gentoo live cd now if you want a bit of a challenge, and there is also a SuSE live dvd now as well. All free, just google it.

Just a tip if you have a laptop.
I tried Mepis, Knoppix Live CDs, SuSE Live DVD without success.
The distro that did run up to the desktop on my Compaq Presario is the Ichthux 6.09 "Amazing Grace" Live Cd. It is based on Kubuntu, so maybe that distro might work as well.

Lol OMG

http://www.ichthux.com/

Its "Linux for Christians" litterally.

Quote:
The name Ichthux comes from the Greek word ichthus, which means fish. The ichthus fish, drawn with two crossed arcs, is a long-used symbol among Christians, as the word Ichthus (ΙΧΘΥΣ, Greek for fish) is an acronym, which is a word formed from the initial letters of the several words in the name. It compiles to the following: "Jesus Christ God's Son is Saviour"

I is the first letter of the word Jesus in Greek: Ιησους

CH are the first letters of the word Christ (Χριστος)

TH are the first letters of the word THeou (Θεου), Greek for God

Y is the first letter for Uios (Υιος), Greek for son.

S is the first letter for Soter (Σωτηρ), Greek for saviour.

The X in the end of the name Ichthux is a common termination in the *nix world, of which Linux has become an important part.

Ubuntu Christian Edition is a free, open source operating system geared towards Christians. It is based on the popular Ubuntu. Along with the standard Ubuntu applications, Ubuntu Christian Edition includes the best available Christian software. The latest release contains GnomeSword, a top of the line Bible study program for Linux based on the Sword Project. There are several modules installed with GnomeSword including Bibles, Commentaries, and Dictionaries. Ubuntu Christian Edition also includes fully integrated web content parental controls powered by Dansguardian. A graphical tool to adjust the parental control settings has also been developed specifically for Ubuntu Christian Edition. The goal of Ubuntu Christian Edition is not to bring Christianity to Linux but to bring Linux to Christians.
- you lot should start repenting now :P

Great, so now we get some religious f*cktards babbling for free with linux ?
I wish people would keep their religions to themselves, and keep this kind of pointless, tacky cr@p off the internet.

Didn't get to try Kubuntu, but Ubuntu 6.06.1 boots and runs from live CD on my laptop. It has a Gnome desktop, rather than the KDE that Ichthux comes with.
