Hello to all, i also got a question about burning this game...i already threw away 2 DVDs in the garbage... :-(
anyway, i have the original iso (4.36gb), followed anthony's guide (open expert3, select shrinker plugin, extract LBA extract file rebuild file rebuild lba)
then i followed another advice from this thread by burning the new ISO (which was smaller, like 3.30Gb or something) with Nero..DVD-ROM (UDF).
Well as you can guess, it doesn't worked either.
Any tip about what i did wrong or something? any help appreciated!
Thanks

Try the method of anthony 05 (page 2 almoust at the buttom). You only need to make a ISO with Decrypter and rebuild this ISO with gnie's iso rebuilder tool (follow the instruction of anthony 05). I've burned the new ISO with Nero (UDF) (check my reply at the buttom of page 2). For me it's works perfect. I did the same with Star Wars, Batllefront II. Same result.

ok i found how to fix that, i just reseted my modchip (it wasn't working again) but i booted a game which i was sure, would boot. So it booted (Call of Duty 2 if you want to know...) and i just switched off the console, and booted winning eleven (and it worked!!!!! relief!)
Anyway i still don't know how to make Matrix path of Neo work. I really don't know... maybe if i make the rebuild technique and burn it with Alcohol?
The first time i burned it i was stuck to the Matrix 'screensaver' at the beginning...(i thought it would work then... oh well)
so now i don't know... if somebody could explain the technique step by step with Expert...it's not the original iso which is rebuilt, right? it creates a new iso? the one i got to burn?

Ok, I talked with Anthony about a discrepancy in the actual burning of the ISO, since the error message he gets, he says he cannot read what it says. This is from my understanding, if this ISN'T what you're doing, tell me, Anthony, so we can fix this process up:
I open up Nero (version 6.6.0.12 NERO BURNING ROM), then under compilation I choose "DVD ROM (UDF/ISO)" because Anthony said to burn the image using UDF mode, and that was the closest logical compilation to it, then put the (in this example where I rebuilt Prince of Persia two thrones) "NEW-BUDDPOPTTPS2.ISO" which was rebuilt using Anthony's method below:
**************
Ive finally got a working copy.
I used gnie's iso rebuilder tool.
Try the first link first because im hosting it at a free file site. The second link is a direct download from a website so try not to use it unless the first one is down.
1. http://www.savefile.com/files/9958278 OR
2. http://www.alucard.cc/ps2/ExPERT_v1.03.rar
Download it and then follow these instrcutions and it will work.
1. select Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins list.
2. Select the iso.
3. Click extract LBA
4. Click extract file
5. Click rebuild file
6. Click rebuild lba.
Make sure you do it in that order.
This worked for me when every other way failed.
It is very easy to do so even the noobies should be able to do it.
Keep in mind im backing up the PAL version, but if your having trouble backing up with NTSC then i dont see a problem trying.
Good luck.
*******************
Into the compilation. Right after I put this in, the message (which shouldn't be called an error message) stated exactly:
******
"You have added a single image file to an empty compilation. To burn the content of this type of image to a disc, please use the 'burn compilation' function from the main menu.
Would you like to close the current compilation and burn the image instead?"
******
After this error, which I think is the one anthony is talking about when he puts his image onto nero using this same way, I believe Anthony said he simply pressed "ok" b/c he couldn't read this "error". SO, after knowing what this message says, he basically IS burning this as an ISO using Nero Burning ROM's "Recorder -> Burn Image" option from the default top menu.
SOOO, I'm going to check if this actually works, b/c I tried this before with Prince of Persia Two Thrones, and swapmagic 3.6 plus simply says "not a valid ps2 disc" when I try it. Is there something else I should be doing to make it work? Please reply ASAP, thanks.
EDIT 12-25-05 8:01PM EST-5: I tried burning the image again this way with the same POPTWOTHRONES ISO, and it worked. IDK if it was the way I chose the compilation, or the fact that I had to push down on my flip-top case when booting the game that made it work.

i got the iso of Matrix (4.36Go... a.k.a 4579456Ko when i watch in properties), i opened Expert3, make the 4 steps thing, and tried to burn the NEW-ISO with Nero like you said, but it failed. My max possibily of burning a DVD-R is 2X.
When i tried to burn the original with Alcohol, i had the matrix "screensaver" but the console stopped there.
When i tried to burn the rebuilt new-iso (which was like 3.5Go then) with Nero (UDF technique), i had nothing but a nice and very black screen full of nothing...(!)
So like i said, i guess i'll never be Neo. i'll never be Goku San too, because i got the same problem with DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi...black screen...
don't know why it doesn't work... Call of Duty 2 works like a charm... same for GUN or James Bond....
DAMN!

To Mr SOSA. Also, i tryed 4 different ways to make a working back-up from PON. Those 4 back-ups didn't work. 3 times i've got only get the starting window of the matrix. 1 times i've got the message 'invalid PS-2 disc'. The 5th method i used was the one from Anthony, witch works perfect on my sons PS-2. The original game was a PAL-version. I don't use a chip. I use swap magic.

^^could you tell me the exact procedure to follow? i'm lost between all the posts above.
Let's just say i got the PON iso (4.36Gb) and i got the Expert 3, Alcohol and Nero appz. What should i do !? an easy step-by-step tutorial would be nice (like "after this you got a xxx file, take this xxx file and ...etc)
i'm dumb and french (quite paradoxical isn't it! ;-)) so please explain me all this with simple words...!
Thanks by advance

@MrSosa
MATRIX Path Of Neo doesn't need to rebuild, it's only 4.37GB. I can confirm that my backup plays flawlessly using YUDEN000T02 (8X DVD+R media). However, I've made a "rebuild guide" for a member name Sticker, with a similar guide just like "3dluis". I've tested both backups (the straight ripped and burned with DVD Decrypter and the "rebuild") and they both plays fine. Here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/275350 -- either it's the media you're using, or you're burning too fast or too slow.
Again, there's really nothing much differences on both "rebuild" and the "straight ripped and burned", except the final rebuild is 3.55GB and the ripped and burned is 4.37GB.

^^thanks alkohol, like i said before in the thread Matrix works fine now, because all i did was updating Alcohol 120 and it's working perfectly now.
I only got one little problem with MGS3, dunno if it's because i burned it at 4X speed. Should i try to burn it at 2X ?
any advice appreciated
