I'm new in all this. I messed around and the speed sucks i'm switching the modem to another computer. what should i set up there?
i'm from belgrade, i got dsl 512/128 and i never get to download with speed larger the 22 kb/s so far i tried azureus(didn't work), bittorrent (slowed the cpu and the speed wasn't exactly sky rocketting), bit comet (sometimes went 22 but fall to 0 in average half hour and i needed to reboot), bitlord(too slow), utorrent(currently downloading 350 mb episode lasts about 9 hours with lotts of seeds and leachers 1:4)... i'm lost. please e-mail me some advice: *edit by Jannejt*
i need this urgently, and i receive short message when i recieve e-mail
also i downloaded that patch you recomended and followed the instructions but the results didn't exactly rock my world
sorry for bugging you people, i've read all the tutorials but i'm running out of inspiration.
First off, posting email adresses is against forum rules, second, go read all the other posts in this forum, as this has been answered way too many times already.
I dont think the client matters in terms of speed, all clients get the job done, unless of course they were made with the intention for doing other things as opposed to just downloading torrents, like downloading spyware and stuff, some clients like BitLord (I heard) do that.
Anyway, the client does its job by trying to get you the best speed, so it doesn't matter which one you use.
Why someone might prefer other clients over specific clients might be because of the user interface, it might be easier or more simpler than its counterparts.
For example BitComet might have a more harder user interface than Utorrent, therefore someone might prefer Utorrent etc.
And sometimes the deciding factor could be the performance in terms of CPU and memory usage, BitComet uses more CPU than Utorrent, and someone with a slow computer will prefer to use Utorrent.
So it doesnt matter what client you use, if the torrents are fresh and healthy with more than an avergae amount of seeders and leechers than you should have good speeds whatever client you use.
I suggest that you limit your upload speed to about 80% of what it can do, sorry if I am not clear about this part but it is exlpained perfectly in some of the guides around AfterDawn, they are found at the top of the page in bold.
Make sure you are portforwarding through your router or firewall etc.
And just read a guide on how to get best speeds, and remember that a torrent takes up to half an hour, especialy the big ones, to reach its full speed.
try using utorrent and wen you get on a site that has a private tracker you will find that your speeds will go a whole bunch faster also do download a whole bunch of files at once, hope that helps
