i am thinking of installing a custom firmware on my PSP. i have a number of questions
1) What are my chances of bricking
2) what is the best custom firmware, i was thinking dark alex but not to sure
3) can someone give me a link to install the best custom firmware

cool thanks man, has anyone else got an opinion as i really want to make sure that everthing goes right if and when i do it.

I would go along with the dark alex one, and as for bricking it I just can't see it happening as it checks the specific file before it overwrites it to make sure that it matches if it doesn't match it wont let you flash.

custom firmware lets you customize your psp, change fonts, boot up screens, sounds etc.
i am not really sure if it can unbrick your psp though

yeah ,i just done it, dark alex's can unbrick your psp to a certain extent, here is what he wrote on the readme about the recovery mode
This would allow to recover potential bricks caused by the writing of bad fonts/videos/sounds... to the flash.
Note that this wouldn't allow to recover critical things like the overwriting of critical prx's

it can unbrick a partially bricked psp like if you flash a dodgy gameboot etc

Hey blade i am using the harley G fw and i tell u its gr8 just flash ur PSP with it.I am using it and My PSP is now practically unbrickable from fonts bootsounds and gameboots!U jsut flash it with HARLEY G FW.No to Dark Alex!!!!
