Hopefully someone can help me - I'm a first-time poster, and I've read through a bunch of the posts to see if my problem was related to someone else's, but I couldn't find any answers. I'm probably looking at the wrong things! I purchased a DVD burner 3 weeks ago, and I've successfully burned 25 disks so far. Unfortunately, the last 3 disks that I've tried to burn failed.

This is my log file (serial number has been removed). Can someone please help?????? Thank you!!!

Hi TXKnight
Welcome to aD
Not a lot wrong here - that's a good thing.

The one thing that's looks to be your problem is the discs you are using - Disc Manufacturer ID: CMC.MAG.
Your have this eror in the log which points to the media - SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND
Not the best by far - and one of the biggest causers of burn failures.
They're not very consistent quality wise.

So switch to better more compatible media like Verbatim or made in Japan only Sony, Fuji or Maxell.
Give those a go and let us know!

Hi Binkie7,

Thank you so much for the response!!! I just checked my email this morning, so I didn't know that anyone had responded yesterday. So before I received your advice to purchase better media, I modified a setting and it that (seems to) resolve the issue - do you think you might be able to explain?

Like I stated before, I burned about 25 disks without incident prior to the point when they would fail 100% of the time. My settings were as follows:

Burn-at-once - on
Advanced Analysis - on
High Quality Mode (slow recording)- on

For whatever reason, the Advanced Analysis option suddenly greyed out and was no longer an option. Why would this occur????

After I posted my original message, I deselected the "Burn-at-once" option, and the disks burned properly without incident. Do you think that you might be able to explain this to me? I plan on going to the store today and buying better media as you suggested, but I'm still a little stumped as to why everything worked fine and then out of the blue it no longer works.

Thank you again for your help!!! You don't have any idea how much frustration these computers give me!!!

Hey TXKnight
Ok let's see Burn at Once is like burning on the fly. Doesn't use any hard drive space just burn directly to the disc. If any problems reading etc bang burn fails. Best to keep this option off the save to the hard drive temporarily.
Didn't see that in the log - but looks like it may read this way in the log - Direct burning: true

For the advanced analysis option being greyed out hmmm is the file size smaller than 4.3 gig? Shouldn't make a diff in Recode - Shrink it does.

No problem on the help too - it can definitely be frustrating when things don't go right.
