I just backed up Deception and when I get to the main menu, the background freezes for a while, moves for a second, and freezes again. And I can't move up and down or select anything. It's not that it doesn't recognize the controller because I push start to skip through the movies and to get past the title screen. What could this possibly be?
Taiyo Yuden, same thing I've always used. This is actually the first backup that has had any kind of problem. You think I should just try it again? I hate to waste my DVDs.
I have the exact same problem going on too. It seemed to happen after I patched the game with the MK tool since I wanted to take it online. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a solution so I made two copies of the game. One for online play and one for regular use. BTW, I am using sony disks.

First of all, what MK patching tool are you talking about?
Second of all, i backed my MK up, just by rebuilding it and it works fine with SwapMagic 3.6.
After I made the backup of MK:Deception everything worked fine up until I wanted to go online. It would freeze at the connection screen so I did some research and found out that the game needed to be patched to play it online, so I found the patch at another website, used a program to patch the game and it worked fine and allowed me to go online. The catch was that the main menu screen was super slow when I would toggle between menus. Sorry for the vagueness but it was a 6 months ago when this happened.
