Hi guys,

Heres my problem only 6 months ago I brought a ATI Radeon 9250, basically its just a poor graphics card. At the time I went for it as it was a 256mb card.

1.) I heard alot of good things about the NVidia 6600 GT, but there are so many by different companies. Which is the best to get? My budget is £80

2.) Would you guys recommend an AGP card or a PCI?

3.) Is there any other specifications I should look out for?

Cheers,

I am not an expert on vid cards but do know this.
AGP is better than PCI. The newer motherboards have PCI-E which is better than AGP.
If looking at the AGP direction maybe get an EVGA 6800 and do this

Others like ATI though and know whats good for your price. Thats old technology you are talking about so you can only do so much.

Thanks for your response.

My PC Specs are Pentium 4 3ghz, 756mb RAM... I brought it around 4 years ago so i'm assuming it does not support PCI Express therefore AGP may be the path to take.

I do think I can get one which is overclocker, as my PC has cooling problems (I have a Dell and can't change the standard fan, but can add additional PCI fans etc.)

And eVGA 6800 does not seem available in most computer hardware vendors in the UK.

What do you think of the following:

or
http://www.itcomputer.co.uk/product.php?ID=01788
or
http://www.itcomputer.co.uk/product.php?ID=01890

Are they overpriced?

Should I stick to getting a 128mb 256mb are under £100 but they are the same price as the 128mb cards...

Thanks in advance

cheers

....According to other posts GeForce GT is advised over GS. I have also looked at 7600GT, again I want to spend between £80 to £100 max.

Also does matter what company makes the cards e.g. BFG etc.

Which is better for my price range a 7600GT or 6600GT, should I go with a 128mb or 256mb.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I didnt know there were 7600's for AGP. As far as 128 vs. 256 more is usually better.

you wont get a 7600gt agp on your budget, had the same problem, £150 for one or £142 for 7600gt pci-e and a new mobo. not that hard of a choice realy. you might find it hard to get an agp card full stop as they know that people want them they can charge what they want. of those you have high lighted the top one is the best

edit
you can get a 7800gs on agp for £200

or you could look for a x800 gto for about the same price
