I have just purchased and tried to install Nero 7 ultra. When it starts to install it gets to a point when installing new files a message box opens up and say's "Error writing to file. C:\ProgramFiles\commonfiles\Ahead\NAS\nas\presets\afterglow.nvp
Verify that you have access to that directory." and will not let me go any further. I have used Nero's clean tool and have tried to remove the file and rename the file but it will not alow anything to be done with it. I have also tried to update the burners firmware and nothing seems to work.
Iam installing to a file called Nero. The file that is not allowing acces id under Ahead under program files. Besides it doesn't give you and option to pick a file to install to.
According to the message, something is keeping the installer from putting that file, and maybe others in that directory. I realize sometimes the messages shown are not accurate and another problem may exist.
You can open that folder and look at the files. Is there a file with the same name in there already?
Are you letting Nero do a normal install, or changing the install path.
If you still don't have an install, you might make sure the clean tool has removed everything it can, and then do a search for anything with Nero or Ahead as part of the name and try to delete whichever ones you are fairly sure are part of Nero . May be entire folders, or just individual files. If you have a question about any certain file, post back. There may be a Nero Setup file or .ini file that is left over and causing problems.
Hopefully your download is not corrupted, but if you continue to have problems, you might try re-downloading.
Well I solved it. I moved the two files from thier original path into My Documents folder and tried to install Nero and it installed this time. I still can't delete either of those old folders though, maybe I will try moving them onto a RAM disc and the erase the disc.
