I had a quick question? I have a Pananonic Dvd player that plays dvd-ram. If i was to get a DVD burner(SAMSUNG SH-S182D) and backup and burn my retail movies in to a dvd-ram can i watch them on my dvd player?

yes. however im not sure what would be the best media to buy. i have a dvd player that plays dvdram but ive never had a burner that would burn them.

With DVD RAM, I am guessing Panasonic will be best. Make sure it is Matsushita made in Japan though.

The Fujis should be good too because I remember those are Made in Japan too. Actually, they might be the same as the Panasonic.

Supposedly, DVD-RAM is more reliable than DVD+/-R. I have a DVD RAM drive but no media so I never tried it. It is hard to find media and usually pretty expensive ($1 - $2 per disc).

I am going to get a few next time I see them just to use instead of DVD-RW on my DVD-RW burner. I would rather pay $10 for 5 DVD-RAM made in Japan than $15 for 25 DVD-RW made in Taiwan. Also, you never need more than 5 rewritable discs unless you actually use those for long term backup/storage.
