I am considering a new monitor. Nothing is really wrong with the ViewSonic G90fb CRT that I have. Just looking to update and take up less space on the desk top.

Computer specs: Pentium IV, 3.0 GHz processor, 1 Gb Ram, nVidia 256 mb GF6200 video card, motherboard is AGP.

I currently run most games at 800x600 resolution as they seem to bog down at the higher resolutions.

How will a 20 inch LCD look at this resolution? Most specs seem to recommend a higher resolution setting. I would think the recommended resolutions would cause my games to get sluggish.

If I need to update the video card to support the monitor, I might not jump on a new monitor. I have seem monitors with both VGA and DVI plugins. My current video card is VGA only; but I think it may have a DVI adapter thing?

I have seen 20 inch models at Best Buy, Dell, and NewEgg. Prices seem to run in the $250-$300 range for an acceptable unit. I don't have any idea how to choose between brands and specs.

Most of the techno babble on web sites for monitors is just too confusing for me to know what is good or bad. What measure is important? Which one(s) should I look for? Or should I just leave well enough alone?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks. I'll keep that site in mind once I decide whether to make a buy or not.
