I installed both of these DVD writers into my computer (at different times) and neither of them worked. The DW-Q120A I tried installing about a month ago. It recognized the discs (cd & dvd), but they wouldn't play and I couldn't copy them. When I tried to copy them it would say there was an I/O device error. I contacted the company I bought it from and they told me to send it back to check it out. I recently (today) bought the DRU-820A and the same thing happened when I put in a disc. It recognized it, but said there was an I/O device error. I tried another program, and the original disc would pop back out and a box would come up and say that there wasn't enough room on the disc, to insert another disc. When I inserted the blank disc, it popped back out and told me to insert the original. I also noticed that when I am in the one program, none of the devices come up as DVD-R drives. It says Sony DVD DRU-820A (cd-r). There are three drives it recognizes that all say (cd-r). I double checked the wires and ribbons and they are all connected correctly. I have another DW-Q120A inserted in another computer and it works fine with the programs I am trying to use on the computer that they won't work on. Can anyone tell me what the heck is up??
