Try doing this. Make sure the s-video coming from your video card to your tv is connected snuggly, then right click and chose properties. Go to settings tab and then advanced button. Click Geforce 6600 tab (that's what yours should be showing). You will see the left menu pop over to the left. Go to Tools menu. When you're their, you will see a Troubleshooting section. Click Detect Displays. Read the messages that pops. You might have to restart the computer for it to work. If after restarting resolves nothing, repeat the steps shown above. This time above where it says Detect Display, you will see a checkbox that says Force TV detection. Click that and restart the computer. If that doesn't work, then I have anothing method you can try.

On second thought, maybe you should try the HDTV cable (if you have it) as oppose to using the s-video cable. If you use s-video cable, you will probably get standard video resolution instead of HD resolution (if you don't have a problem with that).

Buy a DVI to HDMI cable

Your card has DVI out, and your TV has HDMI in. You will basically be able to use your TV as a second monitor. Once you hook it up, check your display settings, as you usually have to enable dual monitors

That works to (I think) but I'm sure you're right. Don't have much knowledge in HDTV since I don't own one. :)

You work with what you have.

Yeah, the cable conversion works ($10), just add an audio feed. Strange though, that Samsung model labeled as a HDTV isn?t. Looks like EDTV since it?s 4:3 instead of 16:9. I guess the 6600GT would recognize it correctly for resolution output but, I?ve never tried the EDs, just HDs.

can anyone help with my problem? I have tried connecting laptop to my tv using s-video (with scart or just using s-video connection). I get sound and the laptop desktop on my tv screen, but nothing else on the tv. My laptop has an ATI Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 graphics card. I can't see anywhere in the settings to clone the desktop which I'm assuming is my problem. Many thanks.
