Burn or convert avi file for best quality ???

Does anyone have an opinion as to whether it's better to burn a high quality download as an .avi file for direct play off of CD in a DVD player or is it better to convert to MPEG2 and burn to a DVD (with an app like ConvertXtoDVD).

I guess I'm asking will the quality be better by leaving the .avi alone or converting?

simply put, u cant improve on the original source. if the original AVI is good then either one is good.
