Hi,
I just bought Swap Magic and im new to PS2 backups and such and i was wondering what the best speed to burn at with Maxell 8x +r's? I read here:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/367906

To burn at half the max speed of the disk but here:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/240341

It says that burning slower does not ensure better quality and may actually make it worse so im wondering which i should do?

Sorry if this seems stupid but i read all the stickies.

those discs are probably CMC Mag.. I wouldn't use them. And if you have never used dvdr's on your console make sure you start off with good discs.

PS2 SlimLine v14.
PS1 Backups without Breaker Pro .
ActionReplay Max Swap Magic Version .
^^ FTP'ed latest Code List from codejunkies.com to my PS2 memory card .
50+ PS2 Games .
100+ PS1 Games .
50 Pack of Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R's .

read the stickies about good and bad media dont listen to opinions like neptune has just given you about burning at 2x lol.
when someone tells you summat is good media or summat is shit ask them to prove it but its common knowledge that cmc mags, imation etc are shit and taiyo yuden, verbatim are the best. things like ritek are 2nd class media.

ok neptune so, 2x may work fine for you, but ur ps2 is one of the millions world wide.
my point is that each and every ps2 is difrent and unique and so different methods will work with different people, the general rule of thumb and the most successful method is to 'burn at half the maximum burn speed'
this way even you will get better burns
you may notice that half way thru your games, theyll start to lag and freeze, although they may seem fine at first, also if you follow some of these procedures (with burning at half the mximum burn speed being one of them) youll notice that your loadng times will be much faster
