Would it be safe to run other UMD loaders with emulated 1.5 firmware? Devhook is having trouble with a couple of the games I really want to play

Also what about emulating other firmwares like 2.5 or 2.6, should they work fine?

Well, you can emulate other UMD loaders but about the safe part, not too sure on that. But I being playing 1.5 homebrew games when I emulate 1.5 so I think it shouldnt do harm. But if you want to try it, then go ahead. And the 2.5 and 2.6, not sure on that because on the devhook readme, i heard that ONLY 1.5 and 2.71 have been tested.

Devhook can emulate all the way up to 2.71, so there is no worry about playing 2.5 or 2.6 games. I havent come across an iso/cso that Devhook .46 couldnt play. What iso/cso are you having trouble with? You might have a bad rip, that might cause you problems.

I am having trouble with WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2006, people in the comments section have said they had no problem using Devhook and emulating 2.5 firmware. The other game is Splinter Cell: Essentials

I have a TA motherboard PSP running 2.71 and emulating 1.5. I have gotten some games to work(Wipeout Pure, Loco Roco) but can't seem to get Smackdown or Splinter Cell to work and they are the ones I want to play most

With Smackdown, once I click UMD the screen goes black for a bit and I get a "Game could not be played", with Splinter Cell, I get the Ubisoft logo, then the Tom Clancy logo and then during the first loading screen I get a "Game could not be played" error

Just followed the instructions here:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/399310

Use the same settings for Devhook and just select the Loco Roco ISO, it didn't take anything special to get it working. It's SD and Splinter Cell that are giving me trouble

more then likely the rip you have of splinter cell has been tampered with as I made one that would work with 2.5 when it requires a higher firmware. I tried using that same rip on 2.71 and it didnt work but I threw my untouched iso at it and to no avail it worked just fine. Could be the same way for WWE Smackdown.

k, although my Splinter Cell ISO is 1.6 GB and that seems a bit big to not be untouched

Smackdown is however compressed so could be edited
The main thing I'm asking is, is it ok to run 2.5 firmware on my 2.71 PSP through devhook?

when it has been messed with the size stays mainly the same since all the person did is switch the prx files and what not its when they rip the file or compresses it that the file becomes smaller

oh, thanks for the tip

Also, Splinter Cell is untouched, that isn't the problem with it, in the documentation that came with the game:

"This one is untouched iso ":)"
