I've got a lot of AVI movie clips Ive shot on my Fuji S602 which I would like to burn onto PAL format DVDs using my Pioneer 105.
The quality of the movies are great at at a very hi res (640x480 30fps) but since PAL is 25fps how would I convert it without getting that motion jerk whenever the camera pans as the convertor usually just drops 5 frames a second.
I dont really want this jerkyness to spoil the quality of the clips so was wondering what options I have to remedy this.
I've got VirtualDUB, Cyberlink Producer Pro and a few other programs around but dont know the best route to take.
I understand that a lot of people in PAL countries have DVD players that will play both PAL and NTSC formats. If yours is this type maybe you could burn the DVD in NTSC format. Otherwise your problem is beyond my experience.
From the first paragraph of the link you provided :
"The following little guide should help you to cange the framerate from 23.976 to 25 fps or vice versa.
If you have a 29.97 fps or an odd framerate like 15 or 20 fps, I dont know a good solution, "
Apart from the "drop the 6th frame" method used by Power Director which is awful I tried just downrating in Virtual DUB to 25fps. Ouch! 20% slowdown!
Next up I tried a shareware type application specifically for DV cams, it was also crap. Then I found a tutorial for mini DV users with Afer Effects, tried it and although the output is similar to watching Married With Children's credits rolling past (UK TV viewers will know what I mean) the results are a little softer on the eye.
