Hey everyone, - I'm looking to buy a dvd burner (don't have one yet), and I wanted to know what dvd burners I should buy, preferably cheap (<50USD), that have booktyping/bitsetting capabilities out of the box (without downloading firmware). Any good suggestions?
(Also, media I'm planning on using is TAIYO YUDEN 4.7GB 8X DVD+R (silver lacquer), would that be alright for backing up games?)
this is the wrong forum for your ques, try the hardware forum
but since im feeling nice ill help you,
buy any burner that can burn both + and -, pioneers and liteons are generally good for this also u want one that can booktype from DVD-R to dvd-rom (this is more compatible with ps2's)
as for media yes taiyo yuden is excellent so is verbatim but only buy DVD+R if you are going to booktype if you have no intention to booktype then stick with DVD-R hpe this helps
Sorry, I meant to include that I wanted to use it for burning with DVD Decrypter for PS2 games, in which case it wouldn't have been off topic (at least I think it wouldn't have? :P ).
So most Lite-on DVD burners have bitsetting capapbilities out of the box? Or are there only certain models that do?
ye most of them do but if they dont u can update the firmware which is like an OS for the burner but your best bet is to buy one that already booktypes u dont want to b doing all that hassle with updating the firmware and what not, just buy one with booktyping abbility
