I don't ususally post messages because I always manage to put them in the wrong place and people get upset. But wrong place or not I need help. My best friend has severe arthritis and her hands are a mess. She has trouble manipulating a regular mouse. I was thinking a joy stick would work instead of a mouse. Do I need special programing, how do I set it up? I need advice. Please think about this. I'll bet there are millions of people out there that can't use the typical mouse and therefore can't access their computers.
Maybe someone has already developed a device to help and I'm just not aware of it. Does anyone know what's out there now? Thanks for your help guys and if I put this into the wrong spot, I'm so sorry. I love reading the forumm and the articles here at afterdawn.com, you folks are so smart and have the best ideas, I have learned a lot and been helped on numberous occassions. thanks again

I've heard of arthritis sufferers using trackballs instead

Another option could be to setup something like Dragon Naturally Speaking software.
You can then train it to respond to your voice and then orally open up email, word, web browsing etc... and then to type in text as well.
What is needed though is a good mic not a cheap one, and patience

?Msnevbill? I?d like to make a small suggestion to you, as by your own admission don't normally bother posting on forums.
If you expect people to take the time to answer your questions and try to help you, at least pay them the courtesy of acknowledging the responses you do get.
You?re unlikely to get much help in the future otherwise, good manners are expected, even on a forum such as this!

I do apologize. I have read and investigated all of the possibilities suggested by these wonderful people who took the time to respond to my request. You're absolutely right! I should have acknowledged everyone that has been so kind to me and I haven't please forgive me. I guess (no guessing about it) I am not aware of the proper protocol when it comes to message boards and the like. Forgive me, I wasn't being rude, I am just ignorant of proper internet behavior. Thanks to all of you from the bottom of my heart. And thank YOU for teaching me the right thing to do!
