Freecom Classic DVD Drive wont open

Hi there, i have recently purchased (a few months ago) a Freecom Classic External DVD Writer, i have done many successful burns on it until i stuck a region 1 DVD into it ready to go on DVD Shrink, a message came up that said select the region of your drive, by mistake i hit 2, instantly slapping myself round the face then realised the outcome was much worse than expected. The drive froze with the DVD in it and wont open! I restarted my computer pulled out the power and usb cable in a number of different ways, but had to result to stickin a paper clip into the eject hole which got the disc out, unfortunately the tray wont respond to the open button and wont eject through control panel (right click) eject either. Please help me im about to through it out the window. Thanks in advance Ben
