Ok. Heres the scoop. I HAD a perfectloy good, un modded xbox. Then I thought of the great idea to mod it. But, lo and behold, i had no cash to get the chip so... SOFTMOD it is! So it worked (eventually) But suddenly, it crashed. I tried restoring the MSbackup and all, but nothing worked. So i basically gave up. But, I would LIKE to put a chip in now, (my moms great for buying me one) but my HDD is screwed. It stop after unlocking and gives me error 21. I just want to return the hard drive back to completely factory default. All I really need to know is...
1. what partitions do I need?
2. What's in those partitions that I can backup before restoring
3. What do I need to put back on, what will I find in a brand new XBOX that I can copy back over.

So, you're mom's buying a chip for you, right?

Easiest way to do this is to just install the chip and use either AID 3.10 or Slayer's 2.6 to automatically restore the hard drive to stock. They can both format and reinstall all the files for you.

Or, you can just use one of those to install all the hacked dashboards and such so you won't lose any game saves in the process.

Yeah. I know about those ideas. But I do not know when the chip is comming, i have no time to buy it for her etc. so what can I do. Does anyone know what the raw files are on their xbox? can someone maybe pull up the soft mod menu and copy down the folders for me? i dont know if its possible, but i am trying.

Well, if you can't wait, there are only two ways left to fix it.
1. Use the game you used to soft mod it in the first place and then FTP the missing files where they belong.
2. Hot swap. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/332766

If no games load up, you'll have to hot swap.

To return it to stock, you just need to wipe C:\ and transfer the 5960 dashboard onto it.

Thanks alot guys.
But what files / folders can I delete of the E:/ drive to save more space? What is there on a stock drive? any ideas? NO WHERE ON THE INTERNET DOES IT HAVE THAT INFO!
