Hey Guys

I have this SVCD file that is PAL, I want to be able to convert it to NTSC so I can processes it and convert it to DVD format. I'm using "DVD lab" to do all the conversion, but when I complie to DVD... it says that my movies are PAL and might not be able to play in some standalone. So in other words, I want to change it to NTSC first before it goes to "DVD lab". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't use an encoder (do I have to) ??

I got these SVCD from a friend (he says they are in NTSC). I use "DVD Lab" for everything (demuxing the movie and reencoding the audio). I did some search and it seems like its a pain in a$$ to convert it from PAL to NTSC, so if anyone have an easier suggest, it would be greatly appreciated.

I dont see why movies in PAL would be a warning from a program. Obviously if you have an NTSC only dvd player then i guess it could be a program. About the only thing you can do is completely re-encode because you will have to change the frame rate!

maybe you can save some quality by frameserving to an encoder or saving to decompressed AVI then re-encoding. (not sure). As far as I know you will have to re-encode at 29.97fps and resize to 480x480.

I met a man once and can't remember who he was.
I'll probably meet him again tomorrow and won't know who he is?

Sorry, i just re-read the message.
why take the extra step:

PAL SVCD > NTSC SVCD > NTSC DVD

Why not:

PAL SVCD > NTSC DVD

(The more re-encoding the more degradation in quality)

I've heard some stuff about SVCD2DVDMPEG
http://www.svcd2dvdmpg.com/SVCD2DVDMPG/

I have never used it. (let me know how it works if you try it)

I would use TMPGencDVD Author for a quick and easy solution.

If I was worried about quality I would save to decompressed AVI, frameserve with image enhancing filters (at correct NTSC DVD Specs) to TMPGencDVD Author.

Or if your pretty good with AviSynth you could just frameserve right off the bat to TMPGencDVD without saving to an uncompressed AVI

I have tried SVCD2DVDMP, the free version doesn't give me DVD option... just the plus version. I will see about the other two software.... thanks for the reply.
